The winter holidays don’t have to be a “pause” on your fitness, they can be a chance to dial in what really matters. At CrossFit Milford, we see the most success when members focus on consistency over perfection, especially this time of year. Here are a few key ways to keep your fitness moving forward through the holidays.
1. Protect your training appointments
Treat your workouts like any other non-negotiable appointment. Look at your week in advance, plug classes into your calendar, and tell your family what days/times you’re training. When it’s scheduled, it’s real.
2. Lower the barrier, not the standard
You may not hit every session exactly as written, and that’s okay. Aim to show up, even if you scale the load, shorten the AMRAP, or move instead of pushing for PRs. Effort and repetition keep momentum; all-or-nothing thinking kills it.
3. Move more outside the gym
Holiday errands, cold weather, and travel can all work in your favor. Park farther away, take the stairs, go for a 10–15 minute walk after meals, play with your kids. These “small” efforts stack up and support your training.
4. Anchor your days with simple habits
Hydrate, get protein at every meal, and prioritize sleep when you can. When those anchors are in place, a couple of parties or big meals won’t derail you.
5. Lean into community and accountability
This is where CFM shines. Check in with a training partner, jump into classes you know will be full of familiar faces, and let the environment pull you forward on days your motivation is low.
You don’t need a perfect month to make progress, you need consistent, intentional effort. Stay connected, keep showing up, and let us know how we can support you this holiday season.
